What is a Java Applet?
An applet is a program written in the Java programming
language that can be included in an HTML page, much
in the same way an image is included. When you use a
Java technology-enabled browser to view a page that
contains an applet, the applet's code is transferred
to your system and executed by the browser's Java Virtual
Machine (JVM).
What is required to view
Java panoramas ?
A Java technology-enabled browser is required to view
the panoramas on this site. Here is how to activate
Java in Internet Explorer and Netscape.
Internet Explorer
· Select "Internet options"
in the "Tools" menu.
· Select the "Advance" tab.
· Check the Java options.
· Click OK to have your changes take effect.
Netscape
· Choose "Preferences"
from the "Edit" menu.
· In the "Preferences" dialog box,
click "Advanced" and make sure that Java
and JavaScript are enabled.
· Click "OK"
How do I control the
panorama?
Let the panorama download fully. This may take anywhere
from a few seconds to a few minutes depending on your
connection.
To navigate click in the image, hold the button and
drag in any direction. To Zoom in and out, use +
and - on your keyboard.

QuickTime VR
What is a QTVR panorama?
QTVR stands for QuickTime Virtual Realty.
QTVR panoramas allow viewers to pan around an image
360 degrees.
What is required to view
the panoramas ?
The Quicktime 5 plug-in or higher is required to view
the panoramas on this site. It can be downloaded from
Apple free of charge for both Mac and Windows computers. If
you have the QuickTime installed but you are having
trouble viewing the panoramas check to make sure you
have the latest version of QuickTime.
**Note: Widows Internet Explorer 5 and 6 users: You
may get a message asking you to install Active X, which
is a component that is necessary for the latest versions
of IE to connect to QuickTime. It is a simple installation
and only takes a very short time. You must install it
to view the panoramas.
How do I control the
panorama?
Let the panorama download fully. This may take anywhere
from a few seconds to a few minutes depending on your
connection.
To navigate the QTVR click in the image, hold the button
and drag in any direction. To Zoom in, use Shift, to
Zoom out, use the CTRL button.
Fullscreen
Users with dial up connections may not have the patience to load the fullscreens
but for users with broadband connections, it is definitely recommended. They
automatically expand to fill your entire screen for a much enhanced viewing

Shockwave Panoramas
What is a Shockwave
panorama?
Aldo Hoeben developed a panoramic viewing
engine based on Macromedia’s Shockwave
technology. This provides ultra-smooth display
and navigation, comparable almost to the smooth
graphics you see in modern games.
What is required
to view
the panoramas ?
The Shockwave version 10 or newer plugin
is required to view the Shockwave panoramas
on
this site. It can be downloaded from
Adobe free of charge for both Mac and Windows
computers.
Hardware accelerated 3d cards (16 Mb Video
RAM, 32 Mb or more) are recommended.
How do I control
the panorama?
Let the panorama download fully. This may
